Do I need to re-enrol my child to restart Face to Face Music Lessons and Band Rehearsals? No. Every student who was enrolled in music lessons and band rehearsals with Key Music Australia in Term 1, 2020 will automatically restart again in Term 3, 2020. No action is required.

When do Face to Face Music Lessons and Band Rehearsals restart? This is different at each school. Please view the Return to Face to Face School Specific Information page for details about your school.

What happens with missed lessons from the temporary stop of music lessons in Term 1, 2020? Credits for these missed lessons will be applied to Term 3 invoices. Students who participated in Online Music Lessons have already have their Term 1 missed lesson credits applied to their Term 2 Online Music Lesson invoice.

What happens with missed band rehearsals from Term 1, 2020? This will be managed differently at each school. Information will be provided separately to families at each school. In most cases, this will involve discounts or reductions in band fees for Term 3.

When will Term 3 invoices be sent out? Term 3 invoices will be sent out via email in the first couple of weeks in Term 3.

My child did not participate in Online Music Lessons. Will they be disadvantaged when face to face music lessons restart? Definitely Not. We are aware that students will be at different levels at the start of Term 3. Key Music Australia staff will spend the early weeks in Term 3 assessing students to identify any specific needs they may have and get an idea of their current level. Students will be taught at the level they are at. This may require the changing of some lesson groupings to ensure students are at a similar level.

If lesson changes are needed, when will this take place? Once our staff have assessed students we will make changes to lesson groupings as needed. This will be done in consultation with parents and may take a few weeks.

What hygiene precautions are being taken by Key Music Australia Staff? Key Music Australia has in place a COVID Safety Plan to maintain the health and well being of our staff and students. This plan has been developed in consultation with our schools. A copy of the plan has been provided to all our schools.

Is Key Music Australia approved to restart onsite at schools? Yes. Key Music Australia has been granted permission by all our schools to restart from Week 1, Term 3. We have been in close contact with school principals and administration staff over the past weeks to ensure the smooth return to face to face music lessons and band rehearsals at our schools. The Dept of Education has provided detailed guidelines and protocols that need to be adhered to. Key Music Australia has met all the requirements and signed all the necessary paperwork to be allowed back onsite at schools.

Do the students need to Physically Distance at Band Rehearsals & Music Lessons? Yes. Students currently do need to physically distance at band rehearsals and music lessons (even though this is not a requirement at school). The Dept of Education has released specific guidelines for Creative Arts (Bands and Choirs) who are operating at schools. Therefore chairs will be spread out to allow for a safe distance between students.

What happens when my child arrives at band rehearsals and music lessons? Students will need to use the provided hand sanitiser when they arrive and leave. Students will also need to use the provided wipes to wipe their chair and music stand at the beginning and end.

Are cleaning supplies provided by Key Music Australia? Yes. Key Music Australia has purchased bulk hand sanitiser, wipes, tissues, paper towel and other hygiene/cleaning supplies for use at band rehearsals and music lessons.

What happens if a child arrives at a music lesson or band rehearsal and they are unwell? Students are not permitted to attend music lessons or band rehearsals if they are unwell. The child’s parent/carer will be contacted and asked to collect the student immediately. Your assistance with maintaining the health and well being of our staff and students is greatly appreciated.

Will Key Music Australia still be offering Online Music Lessons? No. Once face to face lessons restart in Term 3, we are not planning to offer any more weekly online music lessons. There may be the option to have occasional online music lessons as make up lessons, but not weekly online lessons. The weekly online music lessons were only ever a short term option whilst face to face lessons were not permitted onsite at school.
